Busloads of people are scheduled to arrive tomorrow in Kadim, a small Jewish community near Jenin in the northern Shomron, and one of the four in that area that are scheduled for demolition under Prime Minister Sharon's unilateral withdrawal plan.
Organized groups of new immigrants, pensioners, students and youth from Haifa, Netanya, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Raanana and elsewhere will take part. The "Carry the Banner to Zion" task force, which is organizing the event, has announced, "With G-d's help, and despite the intentions to detach ourselves from our homeland, the Nation of Israel believes that building and planting in the Land of Israel will continue, and the northern Shomron – the inheritance of the tribe of Menashe – will be filled with hundreds of thousands of Jews." Visitors will also be taken to see the neighboring community of Ganim, similarly threatened by Sharon's plan.
Two more busloads of excited tree-planters will depart from Jerusalem for N'vei Dekalim, where they will take part in a planting ceremony with local residents.
An annual planting ceremony will take place in Park Ayalon, with the participation of Cabinet ministers, Knesset Members and local leaders. Hundreds of students from the greater Tel Aviv area will take part in the event, which also marks the park's official dedication by local authorities.
In southern Tel Aviv, as well, the local Florentine neighborhood will sponsor a tree-planting ceremony tomorrow. The residents are waging a campaign to add green areas to their neighborhood.
The main planting ceremony of the Absorption Ministry took place this morning in the Ben Shemen Forest, not far from Ben Gurion International Airport. New immigrant policemen and soldiers similarly planted saplings in the Ramot Naftali Forest in the north this afternoon.
Saplings were planted today in the Gush Katif community of Atzmona, with elementary school students and visitors from local towns and from around the country participating in the event. A similar ceremony is also scheduled for this afternoon in nearby Moshav Ganei Tal, despite a Kassam rocket attack this morning.
