A large bomb-attack was averted on Thursday when an Israel Air Force helicopter fired a missile at an explosives-laden vehicle that had been parked overnight in a field near the Jewish community of Kfar Darom in Gaza. Security officials said that the car-bomb was set to kill many Israelis.



In the Shomron, near Tul Karem, two Fatah terrorists on their way to carry out a shooting attack were apprehended by security forces on Thursday. The two were armed with ready-to-fire M-16 automatic assault rifles.



On the Jerusalem-Maaleh Adumim Road, motorists were targeted by Arab rock-throwers. No injuries were reported, and two of the attackers were apprehended as they tried to escape toward Jerusalem’s Issawiya neighborhood.



Mortar and shooting attacks continue in Jewish Gaza. A mortar shell was fired at hothouses in the Bedolah agricultural area of Gush Katif on Thursday afternoon, damaging hothouses but injuring no one. There were a number of shooting attacks targeting IDF positions near N’vei Dekalim and Rafiah Yam.



Thursday evening, an all-terrain vehicle belonging to Gush Katif resident MK Tzvi Hendel (National Union) was hit by a Kassam rocket that failed to detonate. A mortar shell exploded in another Gush Katif community on Friday morning; no one was hurt, but damage was caused.



Border Police operating in the Israeli-Arab city of Um el-Fahm between the Shomron and the Galilee were attacked by area residents who hurled rocks at them. One policeman was injured in the head.



Jerusalem Police admitted today that a terror attack carried out last week in an upscale Jerusalem neighborhood was mistakenly labeled a criminal act. Terrorists set gas tanks ablaze in a parking lot of a building in Jerusalem’s Talbieh neighborhood, in the hope of blowing up the structure. The fire was noticed and firefighters extinguished the blaze without injuries, although a number of vehicles were damaged.



Police remained silent for several days even when a preliminary investigation pointed to a terror attack, but after the news was broken by Channel 2 TV News, police acknowledged that it was in fact a terror attack.
