Terrorists waiting in ambush fired on a convoy of civilian vehicles that left the community of Hermesh and was guarded by army forces. The driver of a bulletproof car hurried to place his car between the terrorists and the other vehicles. Soldiers using the car as a protective wall returned fire at the terrorists, who managed to escape.

The two wounded were treated on the site, and are listed in light condition.

The mortar shelling of Gush Katif continued yesterday (Tuesday), last night and today, with five shells on various communities yesterday evening, and four more at Netzer Hazani a bit later. No one was hurt. This afternoon a foreign worker - a 25-year-old female - was lightly wounded by one of three Arab-fired shells at Kfar Darom.

The total of shells and rockets fired at Jewish communities in Gaza in almost four years is close to 5,100.
