Explaining that their joining together is a "spontaneous" one for the purpose of "strengthening your hand," they wrote, "The disengagement plan and the evacuation/compensation law are unethical and in the category of a crime against the Jewish People. Therefore, we will not cooperate with the implementation of this crime, and we will strengthen the hand of those who resist it. The media are trying to color your letter as illegitimate, but it is really the evacuation law that is illegitimate. Most of the nation is on your side and in favor of the struggle against this bizarre plan. Let's all unite behind your call! "Do not fear and do not be intimidated!"

The signatories include students with Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. degrees.

At the same time, Noam Livnat of Elon Moreh, head of the Defensive Shield Task Force, continues overseeing the campaign of collecting signatures of reserve soldiers who will refuse orders to evict Jews from their homes. The group supposedly has 2,500 signatures already. "When we have 10,000 such signatures, we assume that it will not be practical to fish out two or three names, or 100 or 500 [and arrest them]. Some of the signatories are even from the Military Police."

Livnat, brother of Education Minister Limor Livnat, is also involved in "Operation Doubling," an effort to increase the population of the areas facing the threat of evacuation.

IDF Ground Forces Commander Gen. Yiftach Ron-Tal said today, "Protest is a legitimate tool in a democracy, but to establish a body that calls for organized refusal to fulfill orders is sedition, and must be related to as such. I call on the society at large to leave the army out of the political controversies... A democracy must condemn such behavior, and the army will take all measures, including imprisonment and demotion of officers."

A petition in the form of an open letter by Hevron Jewish Community spokesman David Wilder gives Land of Israel supporters from all around the world the chance to express solidarity with Pinchas Wallerstein. Wallerstein, a former Yesha Council head, called for massive non-violent civil disobedience, even at the price of going to prison, in order to stop the disengagement/transfer plan.

"I call on you to come to Israel and help us," the letter/petition states, "blocking the 'disengagement' with your bodies, preventing Israeli security forces from expelling men, women and children for their homes and their land. Tens and hundreds of thousands of people, standing in the roads, in homes, in communities, non-violent Civil Disobedience, can and will stop the destruction, prevent the exile. The time has come to tell Ariel Sharon, You will not be able to move us. You will have to imprison multitudes of people who refuse to surrender Eretz Yisrael to our sworn enemies who desire our collective demise. We will not abandon Gush Katif. We will not abandon northern Samaria. We will not abandon Eretz Yisrael. We are here to stay!!!"
