The Supreme Court rejected two appeals today against the law known as the Deri Law - but recommended that the Parole Board not begin releasing prisoners so fast. The Deri Law stipulates that the Board can release prisoners who have served half their prison sentences. Today\'s petitioners claimed that the law is illegal, and that the way in which it was passed in the Knesset was unacceptable. The Court advised the Parole Board to wait until criteria have been formulated for the implementation of the law. Other legislation, effectively neutralizing the Deri Law, has passed its first reading in the Knesset.
