The musical solidarity event, entitled “It’s Your Land,” will feature a performance by Gush Katif’s local rock band, Ma’arava Mikan, meaning, “West of Here.” It will be held at Toronto’s Shaarei Tefillah Synagogue, 3600 Bathurst Street.
IsraelNationalRadio’s Tovia Singer will MC the event, which will be broadcast live over the internet on IsraelNationalRadio at 7:30 PM EST (in Israel, at 2:30 AM Wednesday). It will be available on-demand for the entire week on IsraelNationalRadio's Tovia Singer show.
In addition to the musical performance, attendees will hear an insider’s assessment of the situation facing the Jews of Gush Katif and the northern Shomron in view of Prime Minister Sharon's planned demolition of their homes in the framework of his disengagement plan. IDF Brig.-Gen. (res.) Tzvi Fogel, former Southern District Commander, will be on hand to give his opinion of the situation.
“The concert will be a powerful and exciting display of solidarity with our brothers in Gush Katif,” promises MC Singer. “They are standing strong on the front lines of Arab terrorism, protecting and defending the Jewish State for the entire Jewish nation."
The concert will also feature a live stream from residents of Gush Katif thanking Toronto’s Jews for standing with them as they face the threat of expulsion. “Gaza’s Jewish community is appreciative of any effort to encourage and support them during these difficult times when their very future is at risk,” Gush Katif spokesman Dror Vanunu said.
