In the ongoing effort by the PA to drive out the northern Shomron Jewish communities, the Yesha communities of Ganim and Kadim have been without running water for about two weeks and are now without electricity. The communities have been surviving with the use of water tanks furnished by the army. Israel Electric Company technicians seeking to repair the interruption of power are unwilling to enter the PA autonomous area of Jenin to do so.
Prior to the signing of the Oslo Agreement in 1993, opponents of the plan warned that giving away portions of Israel that include electrical and water infrastructure was a recipe for disaster and would one day lead to Jews being held hostage by the PA. Efforts are now underway to restore service to the communities.
