The established metal factory Steelworks Enterprises in Acre closed down this week leaving 220 employees out of work. Acre is a coastal town in northern Israel near Haifa. Attorney Ilan Shavit, the trustee and administrator of the company’s assets, said that the factory owners\' intention was, from the beginning, to sell the facility to an investor and revive production under a new administration. Attorney Shavit indicated that there are many potential investors, but they are looking for someone who will purchase the complex as a whole. In the interim, the enterprise had to be closed. Based on the successful re-opening of a sister operation of the same company in Kiryat Gat, Shavit believes that the chances are quite good for the Acre complex to meet soon a similar happy outcome.
