Mortars continue to fall on Jewish Gaza. In Netzarim, a rocket attack this morning miraculously resulted in no injuries, with shrapnel slicing through the bed of a child who had left it only moments earlier. The projectile landed in the home's backyard, causing flying shrapnel to enter the house and hit the bed. In addition, two mortar shells landed in the northern Gaza community of Nisanit, including one near a soccer field.

IDF troops operating in Judea and Samaria arrested Monday night five PA residents suspected of terrorist activities. In Beit Jala, just south of Jerusalem, security forces arrested a would-be female suicide bomber who planned to carry out an attack in the capital. A Hamas terrorist was also apprehended by IDF troops in Mazrat el-Sharkiya, north of Ramallah, and was turned over to GSS custody.

In other security incidents today, soldiers were targeted in a shooting attack northwest of Shechem – they returned fire – and in the Rafiah area of southern Gaza, a bomb was discovered and neutralized with no resulting injuries.

Children from Gush Katif communities stood outside the IDF Battalion Command this morning to protest the ongoing rocket attacks that target their homes and schools. About 60 kindergarten children, together with parents, stood opposite the command center, demanding the IDF do whatever necessary to bring an end to the ongoing attacks. A similar protest was held some two weeks ago.

Arabs from the nearby PA village of Kariyut are suspected in the disappearance this morning of three trained guard dogs in Eli, a large Shomron community near Shilo. The dogs were taken from an area near the HaYovel neighborhood. Similar professionally trained attack dogs are deployed in several communities to patrol outlying neighborhoods. The army has been notified, and an investigation is underway to determine who the dog-robbers are, and how they were able to abduct the canines, given that the dogs are trained to attack strangers who approach them.

The area of the greenhouses in the Jewish community of Netzer Hazani in Gush Katif was reopened today. The area was closed three days ago, after two bombs with 15-30 kilograms (33-66 lbs.) of explosives were discovered there on Saturday. The bombs were intended to be detonated by cellular telephone detonation devices, but were instead safely blown up by Border Guard bomb demolition experts.
