It occurred just outside N'vei Dekalim yesterday (Thursday). The Katif.net site provides details:
"Youth of N'vei Dekalim did not sleep on Wednesday night, as they were forced to deal with young soldiers who had received orders to destroy the new neighborhood. But neither forced evacuation nor destruction will remove the wind from their sails; it will rather spur them on even more strongly. By morning, the Israeli flag was already waving once again in the 'center' of the neighborhood, and by afternoon, the youths were once again building what had been destroyed at night.
"Around the time of Yom Kippur [two months ago], after the terrorist infiltration murder of the soldier Yisrael Lutati of N'vei Dekalim in Morag, and the mortar shell death of Tiferet Tratner of N'vei Dekalim, the wonderful youth of N'vei Dekalim decided to build a neighborhood in their memory – to be called Tiferet Yisrael [the Splendor of Israel]. During the Sukkot holiday, they built a temporary structure in which they slept and prayed, and after the holiday, they built a wooden synagogue.
"The army officers continually demanded that the buildings be taken down. During the course of the past week, Gush Katif residents received word that the army was on its way to do just that. The local citizens held urgent meetings with the army, and an understanding was reached that the neighborhood would not be taken down.
"Early Thursday morning, however, at 1:50 a.m., some 30 soldiers arrived and began loading whatever they found onto trucks: the synagogue walls, chairs, and everything else. The youth in N'vei Dekalim received word, and arrived at the site. Clashes ensued between the soldiers of today and those of tomorrow; the youth took the stuff off the truck, and the soldiers put it back on – hitting the boys and girls at the same time. The Gaza Coast Regional Council has a recording of a girl who was struck by an IDF soldier.
"Many residents called the army and asked how it is that they don't prevent the Arabs from building illegal structures all along the road to N'vei Dekalim and nearby - but that when Jews build a neighborhood in memory of terror victims, the army stops at nothing, bringing young Golani soldiers to evacuate their brothers.
"At 3 a.m., when the evacuation/demolition had ended, one of the soldiers came to one girl and gave her an Israeli flag that had been flying there. 'I was unable to bear the flag being trampled and torn,' he said with tears in his eyes, 'so I saved it, and I would like to return it to you...'"
In the meantime, the ongoing Palestinian terrorization of Gush Katif continues, with several attacks since last night. No one was hurt when two mortar shells were fired at Atzmonah, nor when another one was launched at Netzarim, nor when gunshots were fired at an IDF outpost near Moshav Katif. In the course of the night, IDF forces effected a controlled explosion of an arms-smuggling tunnel found yesterday along the Israeli-Egyptian border. The forces were fired upon during the activity, but no one was hurt.
