- - An ancient Jewish cemetery was unearthed during excavations in the Maale HaZeitim (Ras el-Amud) area of Jerusalem. The Arab inhabitants of the area had converted the ancient cemetery to a garbage dump. Work will now continue to uncover the many graves located in the area.



- - An unexploded Jordanian 155mm mortar shell from 1967 was found in the Palgei Mayim neighborhood of the Eli community in the Shomron. Technicians detonated the shell in a controlled explosion without incident.



- - Bus drivers in the southern city of Beersheba early Wednesday morning parked their buses in front of city hall and announced they were walking off the job. Drivers explained that local residents would have to use taxis or other means of transportation today, telling officials they were on strike in protest over plans to privatize public transportation in that city. It remains unclear exactly how long the strike will last.
