Barak met with Labor Party leader Shimon Peres this morning, and told him of his plans to compete for the party leadership.
Many Labor MKs are not thrilled to welcome him back. Amir Peretz said in response that he, too, will run for leader of the party, and other Labor leader-hopefuls such as Matan Vilnai and Ephraim Sneh had nothing but criticism of Barak. MK Ophir Pines said, "The hatred of Barak and the movement to stop him are not appropriate for a party that wants to replace the ruling party... Barak should make peace with the members of his party, and mainly with the public."
