Election results are in - and Efrat and Karnei Shomron have new mayors. In Efrat, south of Jerusalem, local Religious Council head Eli Mizrachi won almost 64% of the vote over his challenger, and will be the town's new mayor. Incumbent Eitan Golan did not run. Mizrachi said today he ran a "clean campaign, in two ways: no besmirching, and no street-litter. We did our advertising via brochures in private home mailboxes."

The city of Ariel in the Shomron has re-elected former Likud MK Ron Nachman for his fifth term. He received some 50% of the vote, thus overcoming his two competitors.
In Kiryat Arba, the incumbent Tzvi Katzover was re-elected - for his fourth term - though by a smaller margin than expected. He overcame Yossi Dayan by some five percentage points, with Meir Lapid finishing third with 15%.
Also elected to a fourth term was Maaleh Adumim Mayor Benny Kashriel, with almost 80% of the vote.
In Emanuel, Yeshayahu Ehrenreich was elected with 56% of the vote, and in Modiin Illit (Kiryat Sefer), Yaakov Guterman ran unopposed.
Elections were also held in Beit Aryeh, where a second round will be required, and in Maaleh Efraim and Har Adar.
