Judea and Samaria has registered the 2nd-highest growth rate in new apartment purchases throughout the country.

The Central Bureau of Statistics reports that in the months January-August 2004, 306 new apartments were purchased - an increase of 33% over the same period in 2003. Only in the Tel Aviv area was there a greater increase: from 1,461 apartments purchased in the first eight months of 2003 to 2,077 this year. The figures do not refer to privately-built homes.

New apartment purchases in the Haifa and Central regions grew by 15 and 10%, respectively, while in the Northern, Central and Jerusalem regions, the figures were down by 8-10%.

In Judea and Samaria, following a three-month slump this past spring, the numbers once again jumped, and 52 apartments were sold in August '04 - the 2nd-highest monthly total there since Sept. '03.

The total number of new apartments purchased in Israel in the first eight months of this year was 8,470 - an increase of 11.5% over the same period last year.
