MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) came out sharply today against a political peace plan presented by his party leader Avigdor Lieberman. Lieberman's plan, based on an exchange of areas and populations, stipulates that another Arab state would be established alongside Israel. The Arab state would include Arab-populated areas in the lower Galilee and eastern Jerusalem, while Israel would annex some areas of Judea and Samaria.

"No one will accept Lieberman's plan and nothing will remain of it," Eldad told Arutz-7, "except for the memory of Lieberman's consent for a Palestinian state." Lieberman, the co-leader of the National Union faction - which comprises Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu, Benny Elon's Moledet Party, and Tekumah of MKs Tzvi Hendel and Uri Ariel - holds no official government position. He gave up his Knesset seat on behalf of party colleague Eliezer Cohen, and was later fired from his Cabinet post several months ago for objecting to the disengagement plan.

Eldad said that he does not agree to anything that involves ceding parts of the Land of Israel. He accused Lieberman, who is apparently starting a new party for Russian immigrants, of presenting the plan in order to bolster popular support for his new party.
