The Society for the Preservation of Nature in Israel (SPNI) has a plan for increasing water-conservation awareness. Its field schools around the country will not water some of their lawns, reduce the amount of water available for flushing, and will participate in a competition to see which can save the most water. The SPNI, which hopes to reduce its water-usage by 30%, hopes that the campaign will increase water awareness among hundreds of thousands of hikers who pass their way. The government decided today to install water-savers in all government officers, and even to bestow them as gifts to its employees.
