The Israel Air Force scored a direct hit on armed Arab terrorists Sunday, killing two and wounding six others, one seriously. The terrorists were members of the Islamic Jihad group. An IAF helicopter fired two missiles after identifying the targets in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Yunis, adjacent to Jewish communities in Gush Katif.
Last week, IDF forces killed more than a dozen terrorists, the most wanted being the number two man in Hamas and the inventor of the Kassam rocket. Hamas has threatened retaliation.
In other actions Sunday, Israel border police arrested Arab women and children with Molotov cocktails and makeshift weapons. They were caught while riding on mules near a Kalkilya farm crossing near Kfar Saba.
Israeli forces escaped injury when an Arab car exploded near troops in the area of Shechem in Samaria. The Army also reported two rock throwing incidents near the Bet Omar junction on the main road between Kiryat Arba and Jerusalem. One Israeli civilian was lightly injured and received treatment at the scene. Sources said there have been several similar incidents in recent days after a long period of relative quiet. The road is the main artery to Jerusalem for residents in Arad, several southern Hevron mountain communities, Kiryat Arba and Hevron.
