The Atarot airport in northern Jerusalem has been turned over to the IDF for use as an active army base. It has not been used for civilian traffic since shortly after the onset of the current violence ten months ago, and has been the targets of Palestinian shooting in the past months. Ha\'aretz reports that the defense establishment promises to return the airport in a condition that will enable its use for its original purpose when circumstances allow.
Firefighters in Judea and Samaria have called a semi-strike, in protest of their vehicles\' lack of appropriate bulletproof protection. The firemen point out that unlike the army, police, and Magen David Adom, they are the only emergency service not provided with such protection. The firefighters travel to their emergency calls protected only by bulletproof vests. Despite the strike, they responded to an emergency call yesterday when two Israeli cars crashed near the Beit El-Ofrah junction.
