Pinchas Wallerstein, head of the Binyamin Regional Council in southern Samaria (Shomron), met last night with IDF Central District Commander Maj.-Gen. Moshe Kaplinsky and with Beit El Rabbi Shlomo Aviner. The meeting took place in Rabbi Aviner's home. The meeting was reportedly a discussion of the army's plans to try once again to remove three mobile homes from Givat Assaf, an "unauthorized outpost" located at a critical intersection on the Jerusalem-Beit El-Ofrah highway. Residents believe that the army will try to make its move next week.
A previous attempt to move the caravans, in late August, was thwarted when over 1,000 residents arrived, on short notice, at the 14-family neighborhood. The residents say that they duly purchased the land on which the homes are currently situated, and that even more thousands of people will arrive if the army tries to move them.
