In an Israeli Air Force operation in Gaza City on Saturday night, a helicopter targeted a car, carrying two senior Hamas terrorists. In a direct hit, both terrorists were eliminated.
Mahadi Mushtaha, 34, was the primary target. He was a senior member of the Kassam production and development apparatus in Israel's southern coastal region. He managed workshops and labs producing components of the Kassam rockets.
The second terrorist killed in the strike was Haled Amariti, 28, a resident of the Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City. He specialized in training of recruits.
Earlier in the evening, an IAF helicopter gunship fired at a 3-man terrorist cell which was placing explosives to detonate against Israeli troops operating in the area.
The strike is part of Operation Days of Penitence, the major anti-terrorism offensive in Gaza. Since the operation began on Thursday night, the IDF has eliminated more than 5 terrorist cells. The local Arab press is reporting that some 50 people havae been killed in the offensive.
Prime Minister Ariel Sharon says that the operation is open ended and will not stop until the Arabs stop shelling Jewish homes. The IDF offensive is expected to intensify in the coming days.
