While Attorney-General Menachem Mazuz was holding a meeting with leaders of the Yesha Council to discuss alleged right-wing incitement, it was reported that the recent anti-government graffiti was drawn by two extreme-left college students.

The offensive graffiti in the form of a bull's-eye target - complete with the names of Prime Minister Sharon, President Moshe Katzav, and Finance Minister Netanyahu - was found on Yom Kippur morning. It was drawn on a main intersection near the Kings Hotel leading to the homes of the three "targets." In addition, on an exterior wall of the Great Synagogue just dozens of meters away were scrawled anti-Israeli message such as, "The State is a terrorist organization, " "Sharon is a Murderer," "The Intifada will Win," and more.

After several days of intensive police work, the two students were arrested. They explained that their motive was "ideological." The paintbrushes and buckets used in the crime were found in their possession.

At the meeting last night with the leaders of the Council for Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria and Gaza, Attorney-General Mazuz said he is very impressed with the way the settlement leaders are conducting the struggle against the disengagement. He said that he would have supported a plebiscite on whether or not to unilaterally withdraw from Gaza "if a plebiscite law had been in place."
