Explosive Kassam rockets and mortar shells continue to be fired at Sderot and the western Negev, as well as at the Jewish towns in southern Gaza's Gush Katif. The scorecard for the past 24 hours: A Kassam and a mortar shell at N'vei Dekalim, including a direct hit on a house; three Kassams at Sderot since last night; three shells at Morag since last night, with one hothouse damaged; and shooting at Kfar Darom. Dozens of Sderot residents protested at Prime Minister Sharon's Shikmim Farm near Sderot this morning, demanding that the government take action to end the Kassam onslaught once and for all.
Correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that the IDF has changed its policy over the past several days, and now reports in "real time" on shells and rockets fired towards Gush Katif. The IDF spokesman's office explained that "because it was once reported that a Kassam had fallen when in fact it was a mortar shell - or vice-versa; no one really remembers - it was decided not to report on future attacks until IDF sappers could make a physical check of the missile(s). The report would only then be released, when it was no longer of interest to reporters. The residents expressed their fury at being marginalized in this manner, and Maj. Gilad Parchi, of the Southern Region's Spokesman's Office, decided that from now on, missile launches on Gush Katif would be reported immediately. The word 'apparently' will be added to reports of Kassam rockets or mortar shells, in order to cover all eventualities. The residents expressed satisfaction."
For the second night in a row, Israel Air Force craft struck at Hamas terrorists in Gaza, killing two of them. Five passersby were injured in the attack. The successfully targeted terrorists, leaders in the Iz Adin Al-Kassam terror organization, were on their way towards launching Kassam rockets, and were involved in the past in firing Kassam rockets, launching mortar shells, placing bombs and planning other attacks.
