IDF intelligence evaluations state that Arab terrorists are working on introducing Kassam rocket launchers and capabilities into Judea and Samaria. The monthly army journal BaMachaneh [In the Camp] reports as much in its current edition in the name of a "high ranking intelligence officer."
The officer said that the Palestinian Authority Arabs' strategic objective is to "do in Judea and Samaria what they succeeded in doing in Gaza." Among the main targets of the Kassams, the intelligence officials believe, will be Jerusalem and Ben Gurion International Airport. Their ultimate goal, states the report, is to rid Judea and Samaria of Jews and Israelis altogether.
"In the short-term future," said the source, "the terror organizations are liable to attain the ability to fire Kassam rockets at many Jewish locales within the Green Line, including Jerusalem and Ben Gurion Airport."
The officer noted that some, but not all, terror resources such as money, arms and training that are currently in use in Gaza would be diverted to Judea/Samaria. "The terror organizations will adopt the model of Israel's retreat from Gaza, and will try to cause us to run away under fire from Judea and Samaria as well," he said.
Several PA spokesmen have said in the past that it was Israel's retreat from Lebanon that inspired the past four years of violence, often known as the Oslo War.
