The \"Shabbat elevator\" law was passed today, the concluding day of the 15th Knesset\'s summer session. The new law stipulates that in any new building containing at least three elevators, one of them must run \"automatically\" on Shabbat, thus enabling observant passengers to enjoy the elevator service without violating Jewish law.

Knesset statistics show that MK Zevulun Orlev (National Religious Party) and Ophir Pines (Labor) outshone their remaining 118 colleagues in terms of presence, votes, and legislation. Ynet correspondent Linoi Bar-Gefen found that Orlev delivered 323 out of the 9509 Knesset speeches (3.4%), voted on 59% of the bills submitted (second only to Shas MK Nissim Ze\'ev\'s 79%), and finished in first place with 9 legislative proposals passed into law.

MK Pines was present for 95% of the Knesset sessions (tied for fourth place with Likud MK Michael Eitan, following three Shas MKs), voted on 53% of proposals (5th place), and had 8 proposals passed into law (a 9th proposal may be passed tonight).

MK Roman Bronfman (Tomorrow Party) finished in last place in terms of voting; he was present for 79% of the sessions, yet voted only on 11% of the proposals. Arab MK Ahmed Tibi proposed 48 pieces of legislation, yet not one of them was passed by the Knesset. Minister Dalia Itzik (Labor) delivered only one Knesset speech since the 1999 election, and in second-to-last place was Moshe Arens (Likud) with five.
