Officials in both the Prime Minister's Office and the Finance Ministry confirm that without budgetary allocation from the Knesset, the Evacuation Administration headed by Yonatan Bassi cannot function. A vote to allocate some seven million shekels to the Administration is likely to be held this coming Monday in the Knesset Finance Committee.

Investigative journalist David Bedein reports that he received a letter last week from Israel Civil Service Commission director Shmuel Hollander, in which it was stated that the ten staffers of the Evacuation Committee commission cannot even be hired or paid without Knesset approval.

Grassroots anti-disengagement activists note that the obvious step for those who do not want to see Israel disengage - i.e., retreat from Gaza and northern Shomron, and uproot the 8,500 Jewish residents there - is to contact the nine MKs of the committee who might consider voting against the allocation.

Among the MKs on the committee are Likud MKs Daniel Ben-Lulu (fax: 02 (from abroad, 9722)- 649-6456), Michael Gorlovsky (02-649-6013), and Gideon Saar (02-675-3542).
