The Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria has put on hold its plans to remove several new caravans (mobile homes without wheels) from a new neighborhood of Nofei P'rat in the Judean Desert. Last night, when it was learned that the army was on its way to dismantle the homes, hundreds of local residents streamed to the area, thus thwarting the evacuation. The measure was then re-scheduled for this morning, but again a large crowd gathered, with the same results.
Avi Shaked of Nofei P'rat told Arutz-7 today that there is no legal or political reason not to allow the caravans to be placed there, and "the residents of this region will not accept a new White Paper policy here." The new neighborhood is located several hundred meters west of Nofei P'rat, and north of Maaleh Adumim.
Ten days ago, the midnight arrival of over 1,000 residents from Jerusalem, Beit El, Ofrah and environs at the Givat Assaf neighborhood prevented army forces from uprooting three structures there. Givat Assaf, numbering 14 families, is located at a strategic intersection along the Jerusalem-Beit El-Shilo highway.
