In more recent news from the past, bones of people assumed to be Jews killed in the Warsaw Ghetto uprising of 1943 were laid to rest in the Jewish cemetery in Warsaw yesterday. The body parts were found a number of weeks ago during renovation works of a building that was in the confines of the Warsaw Ghetto - a small city area in which the Nazis forced tens of thousands of Jews to live for over two years.
"This is an important event," said the Chief Rabbi of Warsaw, Michael Shudrich, "because it enables us to honor the victims of the Nazi terror regime." Israel's Ambassador in Poland, David Peleg, also attended the funeral ceremony.
