"Continuing the Israeli Chain." So reads a full-page ad in today's Sabbath eve newspapers, sponsored by the Gush Katif Communities Council. "You and I will halt the danger, you and I will make this year better."

With less than two weeks before the Jewish New Year, Rosh HaShanah, the ad announces a wide-ranging series of activities for the beginning of the year:

* "100 Intersections" - Permanent protest vigils at 100 central intersections throughout the country, starting from the week before Rosh HaShanah.

* "The Israel Sabbath" - We will dedicate the last Sabbath of the year [Sept. 11] to a clarification of the responsibility placed upon us as the new year begins. This will be a year of the crucial struggle for the character of Israeli society. The activity will take place in sermons in synagogues, youth movement activities, Sabbath "Oneg" get-togethers, and more.

* "The Orange Week" - In the week following the holiday of Sukkot, we will fill the country with orange - the unofficial color of Gush Katif, as evidenced by the T-shirts and hats so prevalent in the Human Chain of last month. Cars will sport orange flags, apartment building porches will be filled with orange banners, and more.

* Throughout the Jewish month of Tishrei [beginning Sept. 16], there will be face-to-face visits in homes, information booths in the streets and shopping malls, and more. A large "Israel Sukkah" will be constructed, gathering of signatures for the HaTikvah petition will continue, every family will be asked to sponsor a brick in the construction of a new Visitors' Center in Gush Katif.

* "100 Cities" - On the last day of Tishrei, October 14, there will be an "Engagement Parade" (as opposed to 'disengagement') in each of 100 cities throughout the country, connecting Gush Katif and the northern Shomron with "the hearts of Israelis."

"From throughout the land," the announcement concludes, "from all sectors of society, the popular protest will break out and will say, Jews will not be uprooted from the Land of Israel."
