A Border Guard-policeman-turned-terrorist was killed last night after stabbing a soldier at the entrance to an army camp. The incident occurred at the Amiad base, just north of the Sea of Galilee.
The attacker, wearing a Border Guard uniform, arrived at the front gate and asked to be allowed to enter. The sentry did not permit him to do so, and the terrorist then attacked him with an axe. A second soldier then shot the attacker to death. The wounded soldier was taken to Sieff Hospital in Tzfat, while on the attacker's corpse was found the identity card of a Druze resident of the north.
Searches were initiated by the security forces, and residents in the vicinity were asked to remain in their homes.
