Other military news:

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Moshe Yaalon denied yesterday the headlines of last week, according to which he had stated that the Golan Heights were of "no strategic value" to Israel. He told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that all he said was that if the government would decide to withdraw from the Golan, the army would prepare accordingly. Committee Chairman MK Yuval Shteinitz (Likud) had strong criticism of Yaalon for his interview, saying that a military man should not express himself on diplomatic matters and that his words "caused harm to the State."

Heavy IDF forces are in Shechem (Nablus), one of the larger PA-controlled cities, for the third day of a major anti-terrorist mission. The Paratroopers Brigade operating there discovered an explosives lab and two rockets - apparently Kassams - under construction. Army forces recently discovered eight Kassams hidden in a vegetables truck. Though hundreds of Kassams have been fired from Gaza, it is known that the Arabs are making efforts to utilize them in Samaria as well. Another find made yesterday was that of four pipe-bombs in a home near the Kasba market in Shechem, together with two rifles, ammunition, explosives and electronic equipment used in making explosives. Five terrorists were apprehended on the second day of the operation.

Two Palestinian terrorists were killed by IDF forces yesterday while trying to place an explosive device near the Gush Katif community of Atzmonah. Four Arabs were killed late last night when the Israel Air Force attempted to hit the Hamas leader in Gaza, Ahmed Jaabri, who is responsible for the Kassam rocket offensive against Sderot. Among the dead was Jaabri's son, while Jaabri himself was only wounded.
