Traffic safety in the city of Bnei Brak has improved significantly. Tel Aviv region traffic statistics show that though the number of fatal accidents - 2 - remained steady in 2004 compared to the same period in 2003, the number of accidents in total dropped from 44 to 30. Serious non-fatal accidents disappeared, dropping from 9 in 2003 to zero, and motorcycle accidents dropped from 43 to 28. Bicycle accidents went up, however, from 6 to 10, though none of them were serious. It should be noted that an intercity artery - Jabotinsky Blvd. - passes through Bnei Brak.
Mayor Yisachar Frankental thanked various municipal bodies for their efforts towards greater traffic safety in the city, including the traffic department for its efforts in schools and elsewhere, and the infrastructures and development department. He called on parents and children to adhere to traffic regulations, "which all the Torah giants in our generation have ruled are obligatory, as a clear matter of preserving life."
