MK Sharon, the son of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, together with Gavriel Manor, the CEO of Annex Research, conspired in 1999 to conceal illegal activity dealing with 4.7 million shekels. The money involved, according to the police, was previously raised to finance Ariel Sharon's political activities, a violation of the Party Financing Law.
Although the police have already notified the State Prosecutor regarding MK Sharon, Yitzhak reported that it is still not clear what the investigation will conclude with regard to the Prime Minister and his Bureau Chief Dov Weissglas.
Globes reported that the State Prosecutor's Office does not believe that there is sufficient evidence proving that PM Sharon was aware that it was illegal to use money raised for his political activities to finance his primary elections campaign in September 1999.
