In light of increased support for international observers, as expressed at the G-8 conference, Israel has agreed in principle to an increased CIA presence in Israel. The idea was advanced by Egyptian President Mubarak, agreed to by Prime Minister Sharon, and now awaits the consent of the Americans. The CIA was originally assigned to oversee the implementation of security aspects of the Wye Agreement of 1998. Israeli and PA officials met last night in southern Gaza for another security cooperation effort.
