For the first time, a specific style of terror attack has been copied from Gaza to the Shomron - and security sources said it represented an "escalation" in the Palestinian terror war. Two Israelis were lightly hurt this morning when Palestinian terrorists opened fire at a bus - and detonated a remote-controlled explosive device nearby at the same time. Soldiers combing the area afterwards found no fewer than three more explosive devices ready to be detonated.
The Al-Aqsa Brigades claimed credit for the attack.
The attack occurred on the road connecting Peduel and Alei Zahav, just west of Ariel. The shots were fired at three buses and four cars. Two passengers on a bus carrying workers to the Barkan Industrial Zone were hurt from broken window fragments. The wounded received treatment at a nearby IDF checkpoint, and the road was partly closed for about an hour.
Yesha Council sources say this is the first time that terrorists have placed roadside explosives on a main Shomron highway.
