IDF forces last night discovered an opening to a tunnel used to smuggle in arms under the Israeli-Egyptian border in Rafiah. The opening was found to be ten meters deep, adjacent to an abandoned house. A rope, ladder and lighting were found in the tunnel. Some 20 such tunnels have been discovered and destroyed in the soft earth of southern Gaza this year... Gunfire was opened on three IDF outposts in Gush Katif this afternoon; no one was hurt... Soldiers at the IDF checkpoint at Hawara, south of Shechem (Nablus), arrested an Arab today who was planning a car-bomb attack in an Israeli population center... Early this morning, Israeli security forces captured the Shechem-area commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). The terrorist, Wajdi Juda, has eluded capture since 2002; he was behind, among other attacks, the December 2003 suicide bombing at a major Tel Aviv-area highway junction in which four people were killed... IDF forces arrested nine wanted terrorists throughout Judea and Samaria last night...



The IDF has deployed additional forces and heavy equipment in the Jebalya area of northern Gaza, in its continued effort to prevent the firing of Kassam rockets on Sderot and the western Negev. Hamas terrorists were filmed on the Arab satellite TV network Al-Arabiya yesterday, threatening - in Hebrew - to continue firing Kassams until the IDF withdraws its forces from northern Gaza.
