The latest route of the planned anti-terror partition fence/wall keeps the Shomron city of Ariel, as well as the Jewish communities of Kedumim, Emanuel and Karnei Shomron, on the "other" side - i.e., not connected to the rest of sovereign Israel. In general, following the Supreme Court's recent ruling, the Defense Ministry planners have removed some 70% of the land that would have been "included" by the fence. The Court's ruling stated that the terrorism-related dangers the fence comes to address do not outweigh the hardships it causes to many Arab residents.

Prime Minister Sharon has not yet approved the final route, but it is expected to be brought for Cabinet approval in the near future.

According to the current version of the planned route, Gush Etzion and Maaleh Adumim will be included within it. The wall will run, however, very close to the towns of Rosh HaAyin, Kiryat Sefer, Hashmonaim and others. The fence's route near Nebi Samuel and Givat Ze'ev, north of Jerusalem, will pass through fields near Givon owned by farmers living in a community in Binyamin. Even closer to Jerusalem, Giv'on HaHadashah will be closed in on three sides. Local municipal leaders have submitted complaints to the Defense Minister, but it does not appear that these will be answered to their satisfaction.
