Hamas threatens to continue firing Kassam rockets at Sderot - until the IDF leaves northern Gaza. A videotape played on the Arab satellite television network Al-Arabiya today shows three masked and armed Hamas terrorists, with one of them reading the statement. The IDF entered the city of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza several weeks ago in response to the continued firing of Kassam rockets into Sderot. Two people have been killed, many have been treated for shock, and several buildings have been damaged in what has become almost a daily affair of Kassam rockets launched at the city.
Three Arab terrorists were killed this morning in an explosion in Rafiah, the city divided along the Israeli-Egyptian border in southern Gaza. IDF forces are engaged there in yet another operation to discover arms-smuggling tunnels in the soft earth of southern Gaza. Terrorists have fired on the soldiers, and activated bombs against them; the Israeli forces returned fire, and no Israeli casualties were registered. Close to 20 weapons smuggling tunnels have been uncovered since the beginning of 2004, and since September 2000, the number is roughly 90.
At Kisufim Junction in Gaza, soldiers discovered an explosive device attached to a cellular phone. IDF sappers safely neutralized it. Similar devices have been detonated by remote control in the past.
