The security forces reported a major success in thwarting an imminent terrorist attack last night in Gaza. An IDF unit detected three armed terrorists approaching the security fence around the community of Elei Sinai in northern Gaza. The terrorists, hiding in the growth and fields, were preparing a combined attack involving both the placement of an explosive device and shooting at residents or soldiers. The Israelis opened fire at the terrorists, and later found two bodies and alongside them two Kalachnikov rifles. In addition, and more significantly, the remains of the third terrorist were found; the explosive device he was carrying apparently detonated at some point during the battle. The IDF spokesman praised the alertness of the soldiers in preventing the attack.

We hope that the world is beginning to appreciate the bravery of the peaceful productive inhabitants of Gush Katif, who are among the few in the world who are standing up to this intolerable terror by going on with their productive lives."
