Psagot, a town of over 250 families in Binyamin, some 20 minutes north of Jerusalem, has been the target of frequent Arab gunfire over the past weeks and months - and the focus of acts of brotherhood and solidarity from Jews around the country. This past Shabbat alone two special events took place: Several families from Psagot, and from Netzarim as well, were treated to a special Sabbath in the port city of Ashkelon. The weekend was a joint effort of the municipality and Mayor Benny Vaknin; the El Ami Educational Association; and students of Yeshivat Merkaz HaRav Kook. The purpose: to emphasize the connections and unity between the residents of Yesha and those of central Israel. In addition, that same Saturday night, three busloads of Ramot residents - members of the recently-formed Ramot Forum of Concerned Citizens - visited Psagot for a joyous post-Shabbat \"Melaveh Malkah\" ceremony. The combined group of Psagot locals and Ramot guests heard a historical survey and up-to-date analysis by former IDF Chief Education Officer Dr. Yaakov Hisdai.
Other efforts on behalf of the beleaguered residents of terrorism-torn territories include a visit by the Manufacturers Association in the N\'vei Dekalim industrial zone today. Business owners there told the visitors that they are on the verge of collapse, because of the frequent shooting by Palestinian gunmen towards the zone. The zone has been totally closed by the army more than once as a result of the attacks. Arutz-7\'s Haggai Huberman notes that the extent of the firing has decreased somewhat of late, following the destruction by Israeli forces of a Palestinian position nearby. The manufacturers\' representatives told their hosts that they will do all they can to ease the situation.
