Nine people were treated for shock this morning when two Kassam rockets - including an especially powerful one - landed on the Negev city of Sderot. One resident said that the accompanying boom of the first rocket was much louder than is usually felt during rocket attacks, and "it shook the entire town." Seven of the injured were taken to Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon, while two were treated in local clinics.
Arutz-7 research shows that at least 130 mortar shells and Kassam rockets have been fired at Sderot in the past two years, and approximately a dozen in the year before that, with attacks beginning in April 2001. Two people were killed in one Kassam attack, including a 3-year-old boy, a month ago, and several were seriously wounded. IDF forces entered northern Gaza several times in response to waves of Kassam attacks, most recently after last month's fatal attack.
