The scheduled test of the Israeli-developed Arrow anti-ballistic missile system off the California coast was postponed today, due to inappropriate weather conditions. The test was to involve, for the first time, the targeting of an actual Scud missile. The American-backed missile has successfully downed simulated missiles in the past. A new date for the test has yet to be announced.
The test was agreed upon two years ago by the Israeli Defense Ministry and Air Force and the US Defense Department and Air Force. Israel shipped a complete Green Pine and Yellow Etrog system for the purposes of the test. Two operative Arrow systems are already deployed in Israel.
