GSS head Avi Dichter has caused anti-right wing headlines once again. Speaking today in a routine appearance at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Dichter said that there are "dozens of people" - he later said it is 150-200 - who are "pining for the Prime Minister's death." He said that they live in various communities, including in communities in Samaria and Judea.
Left-wing MK Ran Cohen (Yachad) said that Dichter clearly meant that there are those who wish to murder Sharon, and that measures must immediately be taken against them. MK Sha'ul Yahalom (NRP) said that if Dichter has specific information, he should specify it, and if not, "wholesale arrests of dozens of young people is obviously inconceivable."
