Only two days into the job, and Mussa Arafat has already been demoted. Yasser Arafat gave into waves of violent protests within the Palestinian Authority today, only two days after he appointed his nephew to head the PA's security apparatus in Gaza, he placed Razek al-Majeida in the post of overall coordinator of PA security, giving him seniority over Mussa.

Today's developments appear to be a victory for Muhammed Dahlan, a former Yasser Arafat ally who has been posturing to take control of Gaza. However, opponents of Mussa Arafat will apparently not rest until he is totally ousted from his new position.

Ahmed Qurei submitted his resignation as prime minister of the PA to Yasser Arafat once again today, and it looks like this time Arafat will actually accept it. Arafat has still not announced his intentions regarding Qurei.
