The Supreme Court is scheduled to rule today on the airing of a commercial for the Gush Katif Anti-Disengagement human chain on Israel Radio. Gaza Coast Regional Council spokesman Eran Sternberg said that the commercial had received all the necessary permits, but had been nullified on "orders from higher up" by the IBA management.

MK Tzvi Hendel (National Union) said, "This is just another dictatorial link in the anti-democratic chain of events led by Sharon and Olmert. This commercial was disqualified apparently because of dictatorial political pressure. Despite this trampling of democracy, we will win, and Jews will not banish other Jews from their homes."

Close to 100,000 people are expected to participate next Sunday afternoon in the chain, over the course of a 90-kilometer (55 miles) stretch from Gaza to Jerusalem.

Volunteers working on preparing the human chain are working late into the night on final preparations. A small-scale rehearsal will take place tomorrow, and it appears that some roads and highways will have to be closed during the course of the event.

The Yesha Council and the Gush Katif communities are preparing the event as a show of the nation's strong grassroots opposition to a withdrawal/expulsion from Gaza and the northern Shomron. Chain organizers explain that it will manifest strength, unity, wide public support, and "bonding to our eternity and to our roots." Similar events have had great influence in various other struggles throughout the world, they say.
