Arutz-7's Knesset correspondent Haggai Seri-Levy reports that Shimon Peres shared with his Labor party colleagues today some nuggets from his meeting with the Prime Minister this morning (
>see below). Peres said that he proposed that residents of Katif and northern Shomron who are slated for expulsion - he did not use that word - be offered financial compensation even before the coming school year starts, so that they can move and start their lives anew as soon as possible. Sharon agreed, according to Peres, and even said that special legislation to implement this is not necessary.
Peres also said that Sharon said he is determined to carry on with his disengagement plan, despite the difficulties.
For his part, Peres said, "We're not talking about a new government, but rather new policies - for which there will have to be a change in government. This is not just a question of who gets which ministry. We're talking about a change in coalition guidelines, and they will assumedly be guidelines that will enable us to join."
