An unusual complaint was lodged yesterday with the IDF Chief Prosecutor against the Commander of the Menashe Brigade, Col. Oren Ebman. Aviad Visuly, a Likud activist from Haifa, claims that Ebman's negligence led to the shooting death this week of Victor Kreiderman of Mevo Dotan at the hands of Arab terrorists. The Jewish town of Mevo Dotan is located 13 miles east of Hadera and is situated between regions controlled by Yasser Arafat.
Visuly wrote that Col. Ebman downplayed the many complaints and warnings he received regarding the deteriorating security situation on the route to Mevo Dotan. He "did not respond to requests to shave the roadside of trees and brush after many previous attacks," Visuly wrote, "and took no action against illegal Arab vending booths placed along the route, even though it was known that the vendors often serve as scouts for the terrorists." Visuly asked that Col. Ebman be suspended until the complaint is investigated.
