Ambassador-designate to Denmark Carmi Gillon, Israel\'s former GSS Chief, continues to face strong objections within Denmark. Danish civil rights groups have called upon their government to refuse to accept Gillon\'s appointment, charging that he engaged in \"torture\" of political prisoners as head of the GSS. A civil rights leader there said, \"I cannot understand how Gillon can be allowed to walk freely around Denmark.\" Denmark\'s Foreign Minister said that the government has no choice but to accept Gillon when he arrives in September, but added, \"The Danish government is not interested in any contacts with any one who deals in torture.\"
