Two Kassam rockets fell in the Negev city of Sderot this morning, and one of them caused significant damage to an aluminum factory in the city's industrial zone. The large extent of the damage led police to estimate at first that the rocket was a "new and improved" rocket, but by early afternoon, the police said that the rocket was in fact only the "regular" kind. The missile was fired only a half-hour before the first workers arrived at the factory for work. "A great miracle happened here," said one of the factory managers.
The city of Sderot, including its schools, has been on strike for the past ten days. The residents are protesting the government's decision to remove Sderot's status as a front-line community. "The strike is precisely because of rockets such as this morning's," Mayor Eli Moyal said.
Palestinian terrorists have not stopped firing rockets at Israeli targets. On Sunday night, three mortar shells were fired at Gush Katif towns, while an anti-tank shell was launched at an IDF position near N'vei Dekalim, causing slight damage; no one was hurt in these incidents.
