Likud Party activists established a protest tent opposite the Prime Minister's Office yesterday, expressing their opposition to any Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. They plan to remain there until Sunday, when the ministers will convene for the dramatic meeting at which they will discuss the issue. A large demonstration against the withdrawal/expulsion plan will be held there at 9 AM Sunday.

As of 2 PM Friday afternoon, some 1,900 Likud Central Committee members have signed a petition calling on the party ministers to vote in accordance with the results of the Likud referendum. Some 300 members signed the petition since last night alone. "We say 'No' to the uprooting of Jews from their homes," the petition reads - thus that at least 63% of the party's 3,000-strong central body objects to the removal of even one Jewish town. Many of them have said that they will fight the Prime Minister on this issue, even at the expense of holding new national elections.

"We strengthen the hands of the Prime Minister and the IDF in their war against terrorism, and we call for a defeat of terrorism before any diplomatic initiative," concludes the Likud petition.
