A rally will be held on behalf of detainee Noam Federman outside the Shikmah Prison in Ashkelon on Saturday night. He has been imprisoned without charges for over eight months. A simultaneous demonstration is planned outside the home of General Security Service chief Avi Dichter.



Also on Saturday night, Minister Uzi Landau, Deputy Minister Yitzchak Levy and Deputy Minister Tzvi Hendel will take part in a Gush Katif solidarity event in Rehovot. The organizers wish to support Gush Katif residents while plans are being made to oust them from their homes. Musical entertainment will be provided.



A new Torah scroll will be dedicated in the Hevron Hills community of Negohot this afternoon. The ceremony will take place in the new neighborhood of West Negohot, which the government has slated for destruction as an "unauthorized outpost."



Also today, a memorial march will take place in the Shomron in memory of local security officer Gilad Zar, who was felled by terrorist gunfire in May 2001. The march will begin from the western hill of the community of Har Brachah, and will continue to the Gilad Route near Yitzhar. Security officer Zar, 41, was shot and killed in a terrorist ambush. One of the founders of Itamar, an active member of the settlement enterprise in the area, and a father of eight, he had been wounded in a similar attack two months before.
